Iran, Poland to cooperate in cinema, culture

Iran and Poland officials meet on developing cultural activities between two countries.

Director General of Farabi Cinema Foundation Alireza Tabesh and a number of Polish executives, including Deputy Culture Minister Pawel Lewandowski has met last week to emphasize developing cultural activities between the two countries.

According to the Iranian foundation, Tabesh and Lewandowski met in Warsaw last week, when the Iranian official was there to attend a festival of Iranian films held at Luna Cinema in the Polish capital.

“In order to introduce historic ties and cooperation between two countries, Iranian cinema is ready to produce movies with Poland,” Tabesh said during the meeting.

He also noted “Luckily, Polish people are eager to have cooperation with Iranian cinema.”

On the other side, Lewandowski referred to helping domestic cinema industry and attracting foreign investment according to the Polish government’s plan.

He also expressed readiness for developing cinema cooperation and exchanging more ideas about both countries’ filmmakers.

Topics such as online offering of Iranian movies by a number of Polish organizations and a proposal for buying Iranian films by the national Polish television and several other TV networks were also among the topics of the discussion.

The Iranian film festival in Warsaw ran on December 5-10, 2017, screening ten movies, including ‘Tragedy’ by Azita Moguie, ‘Crazy Castle’ by Abolhassan Davoudi and ‘A House on 41st Street’ by Hamid-Reza Qorbani.
